The Baureihe 103 is a class of electric locomotives in Germany, originally operated by Deutsche Bundesbahn. For a long period, they were perceived as flagships of the DB rolling stock. In the decades following World War II, the Deutsche Bundesbahn focused on purchasing a large number of standardised electric locomotives.

Die Lokomotiven der Baureihe 103 (Vorserie: E 03) der Deutschen Bundesbahn (DB) sind schwere sechsachsige Elektrolokomotiven für den schnellen Reisezugverkehr. Die E 03/103 galt lange als das Flaggschiff der DB und ist neben den Diesellokomotiven der Baureihe V 200 eine der bekanntesten deutschen Lokomotivbaureihen.

For over 30 years, the flagship locomotive seen on many major passenger routes was the DB Class 103, whose distinctive look and popularity have seen it run services even into the 2010s. The prototype locomotive was first built and tested in 1965 as the Class E 03 and was viewable at that year's International Transport Fair in Munich.

To date, the DB Class 103 is considered the world’s most powerful one-piece locomotive and the most powerful vehicle ever used in German line operations. The electric locomotive DB Class 103 belongs to the construction type with the axle formula Co'Co'.

From 1971 class 103 was mainly operated for fast passenger trains especially for TEE and IC trains. In 12th September 1973, 103 118 ran at 252,9km/h (German railway record) in its test run. And some improvements are made in class 103 to prepare for high speed running.
