The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), [1] and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants.

在性能方面主要还是延续了Z3的一些东西，变化不是很大：现时Z4的 引擎 配套方面，厂方提供了3.0及2.4L的新改良型直列六气缸自然吸气引擎，相比于旧款的2.8引擎除了总排气量提升200CC外，最大的改动是进气歧管及空气流程改变，配合上Double-NANOS活阀正时系统令引擎吸排气运作延长，藉此发挥出引擎最大的爆炸力，单是 马力 已由原来的193匹升至231匹，扭力更比以往增加2.0kgm至30.6kgm/3500rpm。

具170匹馬力的2.2升4缸新引擎，提供車輛更強勁的衝刺力，2.8升6缸引擎由3.0升、231匹馬力引擎取代。 自2001年起，BMW M敞篷跑車配備了可產生325匹馬力的引擎配備，與當時發表的BMW M3（E46）相同，將這輛輕量化的雙人座駕，打造成一款擁有卓越動態加速表現的車型。
