Budget is $35-$40k... so obviously buying used. Looking for ~2010 Range rover full size or ~2008 BMW M6. Most people (my friends are college aged) think I am crazy for comparing the two, but honestly I'd buy the range rover and not even think twice except range rover came out with a new body style in '13. My price range is around '10 models.

When I bought my 1988 M6 back in 1992 the selling dealer provided a 2 inch thick file of service receipts. The previous owner was a real piece of work. He brought the car back to the dealer because a piece of trim popped off the seat hinge- the fix involves snapping it back into place.

I was kind of disappointed by this number, because for 335i, the test result by most magazines were 0.6 sec faster than what BMW published (4.8 vs 5.4 sec). I bitterly regret selling my 1988 M6, and I WILL have an E28 M5 someday. I've considered buying an E39 M5 more than once, but I'm a sucker for the S38 inline six and the tail-happy character of the E28 platform. If I was looking for a BMW V8 it would be an E92 M3.
