BBB Scoring is used to assess the motor function of rats. Post-injury motor behavior is assessed via the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan (BBB) locomotor scale method [1,2]. The BBB score is used for function recovery and locomotors testing in chronic SCI study.
Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan Scale Locomotor Assessment …
2012年1月1日 · One assessment of locomotor function following SCI in the rat is the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan (BBB) scale, which is a categorical scale that subjectively documents limb movements and walking characteristics in an open-field environment.
A functional in vitro model of rat blood–brain barrier for molecular ...
2007年5月30日 · Physiological studies of the blood–brain barrier (BBB) are often performed in rats. We describe the functional characterization of a reproducible in vitro model of the rat BBB and its validation for investigating mechanisms involved in BBB regulation.
Setting-up an In Vitro Model of Rat Blood-brain Barrier (BBB): A …
2014年6月28日 · We describe the implementation of a weekly reproducible protocol for the isolation and plating of brain microvessels, following purification and culture of RBEC and further setting up of co-cultures with primary rat astrocytes to generate an in vitro BBB model with characteristic BBB properties.
Guiding and monitoring focused ultrasound mediated blood
2022年8月30日 · We validated ultrasound-guided procedure in three in vivo rat brains by delivering MRI contrast agent to cortical regions of rat brains after BBB opening.
Comparison of a Rat Primary Cell-Based Blood-Brain Barrier ... - PubMed
2018年5月22日 · Cell culture-based blood-brain barrier (BBB) models are useful tools for screening of CNS drug candidates. Cell sources for BBB models include primary brain endothelial cells or immortalized brain endothelial cell lines. Despite their well-known differences, epithelial cell lines are also used as su …
Functional Test Scales for Evaluating Cell-Based Therapies in …
2017年10月4日 · As several studies have highlighted the need for a well-developed, objective, and universal rating scale of functional impairments in rat models of SCI—such as the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan (BBB) scale [8–11]—we focused on suitable scales for assessing behavior, functional deficits, and therapeutic effects following a certain period ...
A new blood-brain barrier model using primary rat brain
We have developed and characterized a new syngeneic BBB model using primary cultures of the three main cell types of cerebral microvessels. The co-culture of endothelial cells, pericytes and astrocytes mimick the anatomical situation in vivo.
Adaptation of the Basso–Beattie–Bresnahan locomotor rating scale …
The Basso–Beattie–Bresnahan (BBB) locomotor rating scale is a 21-point scale originally developed for use in rat models of thoracolumbar SCI (Basso et al., 1995). The BBB discriminates phases of recovery based on injury severity and/or time after injury, two important features of clinical recovery.
A new blood–brain barrier model using primary rat brain …
2009年3月1日 · In the present study we have constructed and characterized a novel BBB model consisting of the triple co-culture of primary rat brain endothelial cells, pericytes and astrocytes with the aim to produce a tool for research on BBB physiology, pathology and pharmacology.
