Scripture does not treat of such things as if they were some sort of magic show to entertain the populace. Some things are necessary for the spread of the gospel. But they are not drawn attention to.

2016年7月7日 · One need only look at the reason the deacons in Acts 6 were chosen. Acts 6:2-4 make it clear that they were chosen to free up the Apostles for preaching the word. God knew the Apostles needed a nudge to leave Jerusalem. Gaza and Azotus were not far way anyway.

For in the upper room where the 120 gathered, the Spirit came upon all of them. They are spoke in tongues and prophesied. This Philip as to whether he was a deacon or an Apostle had the ability to work miracles that was not so prevalent in Peter's ministry. He could even appear and disappear as in the event of Azotus.

2021年3月14日 · I know nothing about the latter, but as to the former I can note that while the negation is pretty easy to understand — the next few verses have several "they took X, but not Y" that the Septuagint translators might have mixed up — there's no clear source for "Azotus", which doesn't sound like any of the Hebrew words.

2020年7月19日 · Being “snatched away by the Spirit” seems different from walking on a journey, including the statement that “Philip found himself in Azotus”. There seems to be a supernatural element here, especially in light of the demonstration of God’s power on display as mentioned in 8:6-8,13, and angelic involvement in v.26.
