The Athletic Bands is comprised of the Sun Devil Marching Band, Basketball Bands and Dixie Devils. Within the Sun Devil Marching Band, you have options including Colorguard, Drumline, Spirit Squad and Twirlers. All athletics bands ensembles are open to all ASU students.

The ASU Sun Devil Marching Band is recognized as one of the finest marching bands in the nation. Most recently, the band performed at the Big 12 Championship game, collaborating with Ne-Yo for an unforgettable halftime show.

About 50+ high school bands perform, followed by the Sun Devil Marching Band. There is a morning block for one half of the bands to perform and a night block known as Sun Devil Showdown of the rest of the bands to perform which makes Band Day an all-day event, as well as making ASU Band Day the biggest marching band competition in the state. Full Band Camp will starts August 16, 2024. Please click on the Pre-Season schedule link below for detailed dates/times for each section, as well as performance dates. First few days of band camp will begin with placement auditions for each section in the hornline.

The history of the ASU Sun Devil Marching Band is a proud one. Since being founded on September 20, 1915 by Lillian Williams, the then-Tempe Bulldogs Marching Band has grown into today’s ensemble of nearly 400 members that consists of percussion, woodwind, brass, front ensemble, color guard and spirit squad members.
