Aspelta was a ruler of the kingdom of Kush (c. 600 – c. 580 BCE). More is known about him and his reign than most of the rulers of Kush. He left several stelae carved with accounts of his reign. Aspelta was the son of Senkamanisken and Queen Nasalsa. Aspelta was the brother and successor of Anlamani.

2022年1月11日 · Aspelta, the fourth king of Napata, reigned from 600 to 580 B.C. following his brother Anlamani. Known for his efforts to strengthen and develop the Nubian kingdom, Aspelta's reign included both significant battles and innovative initiatives that shaped Nubian civilization.

Our exhibition features more than fifty 2600-year-old objects from Aspelta’s tomb and times, including a brick still speckled with gold, as well as the world’s only fully accurate recreation of a Nubian tomb interior. At the center of the burial chamber is a cast from Aspelta’s original sarcophagus containing a replica of his gilded coffin.

2018年2月23日 · An article published in the journal Sudan and Nubia revealed the “one half-scale” statue as Aspelta, a ruler of the Kush kingdom between 593 BC and 568 BC. Archaeologists recently interpreted an ancient inscription which was found on the statue which said he was “beloved of a god” and “given all life stability and dominion forever.”
