The name “ASDA” comes from parts of the words “ASquith” and “DAiries,” reflecting the company’s roots.

Coinciding with a slight modification of the Asda logo in 2015, the Asda Supermarket name was phased out in favour of simply Asda. In 2010, Asda purchased Netto UK. In 2011, the majority of former Netto branches were converted to the Asda Supermarket fascia.
