Access various windows and common actions from the main menu in Alteryx Designer. These options are specific to creating and working with workflows. New Workflow (Ctrl+N): Create a new workflow (*.yxmd). Templates: Access your saved workflow, macro, and app templates. Go to Templates to learn more.

Drag a tool from the Tool Palette onto the workflow canvas to begin building a workflow. To connect tools, select an output anchor and drag the connector arrow to the next tool's input anchor. The Favorites category includes the most common tools used in workflow creation.

View a list of all tools in Alteryx Designer. Tools are grouped according to their tool categories and also include each tool's XML tool name (the tool name that displays via the workflow's XML View ).

For basic transformations tools in the favorites are mostly used. Transpose and Cross tab is used in case you want your data pivoted or unpivoted. Reporting tools can be used in case you want to customize your output into specific template or charts. Email tool can be used for emailing to various recipients at once.

The Action tool updates the configuration of a workflow with values provided by interface questions. The Check Box tool displays a check box option to the end user in an app or macro. The Condition tool tests for entered values and returns either true or false. A Control Parameter is the input for each iteration of a Batch Macro.
