He has been CEO of AKF in the UK since 2016. Between 2013 and 2016, Matt led the Foundation’s work in India as its CEO, focusing AKF on the needs of marginalised communities, establishing significant new relationships, and launching multi-state programmes in education, financial inclusion, livelihoods, and water and sanitation.

The Foundation leverages every pound allocated towards its social development work through matching grants from leading donor agencies and partners, including European governments, to create a multiplier effect that stretches resources and amplifies the impact of every donation.

The Centre is the home for a number of UK-based organisations founded by His Highness the Aga Khan. They include the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) UK, the Aga Khan University’s Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (AKU-ISMC) and the Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS).
