In my playthrough, the way AJ talked about liking to kill made me hesitant to trust his judgement. Plus the fight with James made me second guess myself. I think if you spare Lily, AJ's speech makes you more inclined to trust him.

Sep 28, 2018 · The fact that someone was a scumbag doesn't change the bottom line, although it should be taken into consideration and I made sure it was. I ended up telling AJ he wasn't a monster in our room and saying the same of Marlon when we were outside. I wanted AJ to know that he made a mistake, and Marlon made many, but neither of them are monsters.

But I am surprised that everyone had to pick between their love interest/friend or AJ, and they choose to risk AJ. I want to think that most people knew it was the choice with the "best outcome" but they allowed AJ to get in danger, attacking Dorian, who's armed and doesn't hesitate, in the same room with Minnie and Lilly, who are also armed.
