When the average casual footy fan looks back at Brownlow results in 10 or 20 years time they're not going to be thinking "gee, the umpires were wildly biased towards Player X during this period of Brownlow history", they're just going to look at the overall Medal tallies and factor that into their appraisal of who were the best players.
