The EMD GP7 is a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division and General Motors Diesel between October 1949 and May 1954. [2] The GP7 was the first EMD road locomotive to use a hood unit design instead of a car-body design.

2025年2月20日 · The GP7 utilized EMD's standard prime mover at the time - also found in the popular F7 - the 16-cylinder, model 567B. Internal components were also similar; a model D12B main generator, D27C traction motors, and Blomberg trucks. The GP7 was offered in six different gear ratios, depending on a railroad's needs.

What are they, and why only one side of the short hood? 3. The GP7s all seem to have a small square hatch-looking thing at both ends of the roof. What are they?
