Jan 12, 2017 · 568A provides backwards compatibility when connecting two phone lines, 568B for only one phone line. 568B also offers a better prevention of cross talk (interference between the cable pairs). You can use either 568A or 568B, but you HAVE to use the prescribed pairings of the pins: 1 paired with 2, 3 with 6, 4 with 5 and 7 with 8!

Reading many of these, the "standard" default patch wiring appears to be T-568B both ends. Crossover is simply introducing T-568A at one end or the other. Share
