The 548th ISR Group main body at Beale AFB, California, is comprised of four active duty squadrons, two Air Force Reserve squadrons, two California Air National Guard squadrons, along with a geographically-separated detachment at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona.

In addition to getting a brief from the 9 IS, and an update on all the awesome initiatives the DGS-2 ART is working on, Chief Wolfe had the honor of unveiling our new 6th Photo Technical Squadron (precursor to the 548 ISRG) heritage display.

Lineage. Constituted as 6 Photo Technical Squadron on 20 Nov 1943. Activated on 1 Dec 1943. Redesignated as 548 Reconnaissance Technical Squadron on 7 Jan 1950. Discontinued on 8 Mar 1960.

However, the 548th ISRG worked diligently to create a mother’s room that is both comfortable and available to all.

The 548 ISRG operates $1-billion Distributed Ground Station-2 and Deployable Shelterized System-Film components of the Air Force Distributed Common Ground System.

The mission of the 548 ISRG is to operate and maintain a $1B AN/GSQ-272 "Sentinel" weapon system (also known as Distributed Ground Station or DGS), and provide combatant commanders with processing, exploitation, and dissemination (PED) of actionable intelligence data collected by U-2, MQ-1, MQ-9 and RQ-4 aircraft and other platforms as required.

Elizabeth Green, 548th ISRG staff superintendent. It is meant to celebrate the work DGS-2 Airmen, also called sentinels, do to keep this nation safe and secure.
