.444 vs 45-70 vs 30-30 - Long Range Hunting Forum
2011年8月14日 · The nice thing about the 45-70 and .444 is that when you shoot something, it's down right there. But on the othrhand neither one is for the recoil shy. I personally like the .450 much better than the 45-70, but also have come to dread pulling the trigger! Where as the .444 recoil is like a very stiff 3" 12 gauge round.

All I know is my Marlin 1895 .45/70 kicks like a mule, but the .444 Marlin and .45-70 Government are a pair of classics. Head to Head: .444 Marlin vs. .45-70 Government Hope the new Marlin brings the .444 back just in case I need to punish my other shoulder.
45-70, 45-90, or 450 Marlin? | Long Range Hunting Forum
2019年4月28日 · 450 Marlin - loaded ammo to higher pressure, but the cases are probably more expensive since they're belted and doesn't seem to be as popular as the 45-70 45-90 - alot more oomph and range, if loaded with black powder. Smokeless powder supposedly will limit it's performance to 45-70 ballistics. Loaded ammo is lacking in availability and performance

2010年6月11日 · They can be safely loaded to even higher pressure than an 1895 (45-70 or 450 Marlin). If the OP wants a 444 there is nothing wrong with that round either. Just giving the OP my personal experience with the 45-70 as I have never owned a 444 or 30-30 to compare it to. With a 300 lb animal all three are great.
444 Marlin Pistol - Gathering ideas - Long Range Hunting Forum
2013年7月14日 · You'll need to handload for the the 444, so availability of ammo for the 450 shouldn't be a concern. The 450 marlin would be a much better case to work with simply because it uses a more common bolt face and no rim. The lack of a rim will make it function significantly better out of a box mag than the 444 ever will.

45/70 for large bear... ammo? - Long Range Hunting Forum
2021年5月15日 · All of the above from Calling 4 Life is good info. I've used 405 gr hard cast only for bear in my Marlin. Get the best hard cast out there. If you have to shoot an attacking bear it will likely be quick and real close. My eyes are old and iron sights don't work so well for me so I use a top quality red dot. Quick and easy for me.

2007年12月17日 · .450 Marlin: 350 grain/2,100 fps/3,425 ft.lbs. I say "claimed" with the .458 SOCOM, because that's what the designer's say in their sales hype, but other sources say it's more like 1,750 to 1,800 fps, or, about the same as the .45-70. Even at the claimed 2,000 fps, of comparable lever gun choices, it only actually exceeds the .45-70 . . . Subsonic?

444 Marlin - Long Range Hunting Forum
2010年2月21日 · I believe the 444 Marlin came out about 1964 and was first chambered in the Marlin 444. I have never owned one but had three different friends that did and they ALL shot sub MOA with good loads at 100 yds. I really have been quite amazed at the accuracy for a lever gun! I don't know how they shoot in other rifles.
