English: 43004 entered service with British Rail in March 1976, originally as part of High Speed Train 253002. It was named Swan Hunter from November 1990 until February 1995 and Borough of Swindon from May 1997 until September 2004.

2006年7月6日 · The major rebuilding of the Class 43 powercars including the fitting of MTU engines commenced at Brush Traction in 2004, when two Great Western cars Nos. 43004 and 43009 were trial refurbished and placed in revenue earning service for evaluation.

With MTU powercars 43004+43009 formed on a shortened rake, the new 'dynamic lines' livery was launched to the public via a special press run from Paddington through to Penzance. The latest incarnation of First Great Western is seen at Creech St Michael.

43004 Fairwood 11 September 2007 - hondawanderer.com
43004 passes Fairwood on 11 September 2007 with the 1A86 06:43 Penzance to Paddington First Great Western service. Although 43004 is in the later plain version of FGW's purple livery, all except the rear coach are in still in the first version of this colour scheme.
