2018年7月29日 · Simply set your jamb with the hinge side flush to the finished wall, and rip trim boards to extend the jamb to the other face of the wall. If your jams are stained you would normally set those with an appropriate reveal, and not try to put them flush with the jamb faces. Flush joints usually don't look very good.

2005年4月9日 · Like ACI said, buy a door for 2x6 construction. Adding extension jambs can interfere with the door opening and closing if you don't keep them back far enough. Most rough openings aren't framed wide enough. The strike will carve a nice slot in the extensions. When ordering for 2x6 construction, remember the parts are built for 6 9/16" walls.

2014年11月12日 · Basic details that have to be answered before any door order is even accepted. Jamb width, swing, dbl or single bore , threshold type and brickmold (or not). A builder installing 4-9/16" jamb doors in a 2x6 wall is just stupid.

2018年5月18日 · Therefore, I will likely pour the the foundation wall to leave myself room to drop my interior garage door jambs down to the garage floor (which was recommended by the garage door people). What I am wondering is why 2x6's are recommended for the jambs. If I use 2x6's for the side jambs, I don't see what I am supposed to do with the excess width.

Tomorrow when I pick it up, I'll first take a look at the door and see if there is a strip between the brick mold and trim face. If not, it makes sense to trim the jam in order to provide a stronger anchor point to the frame. oh'mike - door swings in.

2009年10月25日 · I know I can buy a 36" jamb kit at lowes for around $70 but I was wondering if I can just put this door in a 2x6 frame (top & both sides) and just purchase the 36" entry sill on the bottom of my 2x6 door jamb? and do I leave a 1/16 or 1/8 around the top,bottom and strike plate sides and install 1x for the door stop and magnetic weather seal etc ...

2009年5月8日 · If you set the door units in place and add extension jambs, the door slab will be setting back 2 inches from the finished wall surface. That may be OK, but don't expect to open it a full 180 degrees. You might want to think about adding the extensions to the outside edges of the jamb to keep the door slab flush with the inside wall.

2021年3月13日 · I have a pella exterior door that my wife loves and bought that I didn't pay close enough attention when she came home with it that it is for a 2x4 wall. We want to put it between our home and garage and the wall is 2x6. I understand they make jamb extension kits and I would assume this is what I would need?
