Jun 12, 2024 · Looking at purchasing an Avalon but I heard early versions of the 2GR-FE had many potential issues: idler pulleys, oil cooler lines, etc. When did all these problems get resolved? Just wondering how new of an Avalon I should consider to avoid headaches.

Dec 10, 2008 · The Toyota 2GR-FE VVT-i 3.5-litre V6 engine chosen by the buggy’s owner, Peter Kittle, also powers Toyota Aurion, Tarago, new Kluger and RAV4 V6. The Jimco 2000 is fitted with a pair of Turbonetic turbochargers that are each rated to 450 horsepower.

Aug 16, 2021 · Post number 14 lays out the ECU tuning process for a 2015 2gr-fe Camry. The process is very similar for any 2gr-fe Toyota. If anyone is lucky enough to have a manual 2gr-fe then the mr2 community has already figured out a solution for your setup

Sep 25, 2013 · I've heard that the 3VZ was a good choice for a less out of pocket expense. The 2GR's are about 3X more. I can get the HP I need from a turbo and still less than buying a 2GR. Your right I would have loved to get the 2GR but for the money I went the 3VZ, bought a 92 Lexus ES300 5 speed for $800 and runs great. Thanks for your input.

Dec 24, 2020 · Later Gen-2 (2011-2013) used the 2GR-FE with the U660 E/F 6 speed (and I believe electric PS) Earlier Gen-3 (2014-2016) also used the 2GR-FE with the U660 E/F 6 speed (and I believe electric PS) Not sure if this helps anyone with picking an engine, but it does help explain the LKQ charts a bit.

Jun 13, 2019 · The 2GR-FE is only a larger displacement of the same design found on a current high output motorcycles. I do find it impossible however, that consumer actions could have resulted in failure of a head gasket.

Those are just maps though, patches aren't needed. idle up might be a thing by modifying maps and using the existing load inputs (ELS1,ELS2,ELS3) but usuing currently unmapped I/O is unlikely to happen any time soon. none of the chips have documentation on the peripherals inside them. so changing logic is way easier than changing pin assignments.
