2008年12月28日 · The 257 STW is not for a novice reloader, loads need to be worked up carefully, I've knocked out a few primers! With 100 gr TSX's and some RL25 you will have a great flat shooting rifle. Go with a cut rifle barrel or a broughton to help on barrel wear, use a PT&G reamer, blue printed 700 action, and everything should work fine.

2009年1月14日 · The 257 STW is a flat liner for sure. The down side is that it is grossly over bored so you won't get a lot of barrel life. If this is a used gun, look closely at the throat for erosion. If the bore is in good condition, you will have a great long range rifle.

Of the standard manufactures which bullit would this group recommend for trying to achieve 4000FPS in a 100grn. 2004年4月10日 · Since the 257 STW has about 10 grains more capacity than a 257 Weatherby, you can start your 257 STW loads by using max 257 WBY data and work up. I would use only the slowest powders listed, such as RL25, H1000, H870, et al. That's where I would start if it were my rifle. Or you can do a search of 257 STW and see what loads the boys are usin'.

2008年2月3日 · The 257 STW, which has about 10-12% less case volume will put out a 100 grn bullet at 3700fps, and 120grns at 3466fps. Not really enough to merit the trouble because one still arrives at the point where in the course of trying to get great velocity great preasures are also created causing throat erosion and much more limited case utilization.
