A cabriolet version of the 205, known as the CJ/CT/CTI, was designed and partially assembled by Pininfarina of Italy. The CTI version offered the same plastic arches and wheels as the 1.6 GTI. Some later models incorporated the catalysed 1.9-litre engine.

In 1985, Peugeot introduced the 205 CTI, a sporty convertible version of their 205. The 205 CTI was based on the 205 GTI, and it featured the same engines as found in the GTI, as well as the same 5 speed manual transmission. Over the course of production, Peugeot built the CTI 1.6 and the CTI 1.9, before the variant was discontinued in 1992.
