2020年4月19日 · Just curious how often the 1911 was carried by the US Navy in the past. And if it was, were they "US Army" marked guns that were just Navy contracts, or were there any US Navy marked 1911s? And were US Army marked 1911s every counter-marked with us navy labels?

2008年12月23日 · Colt No.1209XX was shipped June 21, 1915 to Springfield Armory. It has had it's MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY slide replaced with a MODEL OF 1911 U.S. NAVY at some time in it's past. Colt Model of 1911 U.S. NAVY Serial Number 109967 - Manufactured in 1915 and part of a 500 gun Navy contract order. Gun is pictured with original M1912 holster and two spare lanyard loop magazines all of which accompanied the pistol.

Shipped To: Brooklyn Navy Yard; Year: 1912; This Colt M1911 was shipped to the Brooklyn Naval Yard on October 25th, 1912. This pistol retains it's factory original blue finish with 15 rows of checkering on it's walnut grips. The slide is marked on the right side "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. NAVY" with Roman style font with serif's.

This is an extremely rare US Navy Colt from its first year of production in 1912 on the 2nd Navy contract. As far as we can tell, this is a correct early Navy with all correct or at least early parts. The frame has the proper WPG inspection proof, and the slide is marked with the patent date of 1911 (not 1913), as well as the H proof.

2024年12月13日 · I've done a little more research and may have figured out how Colt 1911A1's may have been ordered and shipped to the US Navy in 1937. The last pistol shipment from Colt to the Navy was for 10,000 1911 pistols, 13 years prior in 1924. So in 1937 with the Pacific heating up and the Navys inventory levels low they began ordering again.
