Just get Global Entry via a travel card imo, my recommendation is the Venture X. It would be extremely easy for you to break even on the annual fee with the travel credits they give you. Then they give you the equivalent of 100$ each year after global protect reimbursement.

I'm a little confused about the GES/GOES application ID I'm supposed to receive. I filled up the application and paid the 100$ fees on the CBP/TTP website.

It varies a lot. When my friend applied for Global Entry he got his conditional approval in about 3 weeks. When I applied for myself and also when my husband applied on the same day, it took us about 4 months just to get our conditional approval. Then we had to wait about a month to find an interview slot. This was a couple years ago before covid.

There's even a FAQ about that reality on the Global Entry website - just with the standard generic non-answer about each application is individually reviewed. It's also seemingly not a coincidence that there are 2 distinct piles - if you don't hear back immediately, you're going to be waiting at least 6, and more likely 8-10 months.
