Colonel John Nicholas Blashford-Snell CBE (born 22 October 1936) is a former British Army officer, explorer and author. He founded Operation Raleigh and the Scientific Exploration Society. [1]

Colonel John Blashford-Snell is one of the world's most renowned and highly respected explorers. He has mounted over a hundred expeditions over the past 50 years all over the world, concentrating on scientific research and community aid.

John was awarded the MBE for his leadership of the Blue Nile Expedition in 1968 and the OBE for his work on Operation Raleigh 1984-91. In the 2019 New Year Honours list JBS was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to scientific research abroad and to young people in the UK.
