Metaphysis - Wikipedia
The metaphysis (pl.: metaphyses) is the neck portion of a long bone between the epiphysis and the diaphysis. [1] It contains the growth plate, the part of the bone that grows during childhood, and as it grows it ossifies near the diaphysis and the epiphyses.

2025年1月17日 · Metaphysis is a term used in anatomy to describe the transitional region between the diaphysis (the shaft or midsection of a long bone) and the epiphysis (the rounded end of a long bone). [8] It is a highly vascularized and rapidly growing area, and plays a critical role in the growth and development of long bones. Structure of Metaphysis

Red bone marrow fills the spaces between the spongy bone in some long bones. Each epiphysis meets the diaphysis at the metaphysis. During growth, the metaphysis contains the epiphyseal plate, the site of long bone elongation described later in the chapter.

I. Describe the functions of the skeletal system and the five basic shapes of human bones. II. Describe the structure and histology of the skeletal system. III. Define and identify the following parts of a long bone: diaphysis, epiphysis, metaphysis, articular cartilage, periosteum, medullary cavity, and endosteum. IV.
Metaphysis - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
The metaphysis is occupied by cancellous, or trabecular, bone, organized in an open network of interconnecting rods and plates of bone (trabeculae) that transmits forces between the joint and the shaft of the bone.

The metaphysis is the most metabolically active portion of bone and therefore is host to the largest variety of tumors. Among these are nonossifying fibroma, aneurysmal bone cyst, and osteosarcoma. Giant cell tumor, while centered in the metaphysis, often …

The metaphysis is the region where the shaft (diaphysis) of a long bone meets the end (epiphysis) of the bone. During growth and development, the metaphysis contains the growth plate cartilage that allows the bone to increase in length.

In bone: Bone morphology This region (metaphysis) functions to transfer loads from weight-bearing joint surfaces to the diaphysis. Finally, at the end of a long bone is a region known as an epiphysis, which exhibits a cancellous internal structure and comprises the bony substructure of the joint surface. Prior to full… Read More
