YR refers to the letter Y as well as the letter R, and represents the inversion of the Man -Rune. The Rune means error, confusion, reversal, negation, destruction, fall, but also woman (as an opposite to man) as well as matter, evil, etc.

The Elder Futhark (or Fuþark, / ˈfuːðɑːrk /), also known as the Older Futhark, Old Futhark, or Germanic Futhark, is the oldest form of the runic alphabets. It was a writing system used by Germanic peoples for Northwest Germanic dialects in the Migration Period.

This sound was written in the Younger Futhark using the Yr rune ᛦ, the Algiz rune turned upside down, from about the 7th century. This phoneme eventually became indistinguishable from the regular r sound in the later stages of Old Norse, at about the 11th or 12th century.

Little is known about the origins of the Runic alphabet, which is traditionally known as futhark after the first six letters. The Runic alphabet may have been based on an early version of the Greek alphabet. A number of letters resemble those used in early Greek alphabet.

Yr means yew-tree in old Norse. The rune represents the phonetic sound “ʀ” known as a voiced uvular trill, known for example from the French R-sound where the sound is created in the back of the mouth. This sound is also common in some parts of Germany, as well as in Denmark and the Western and Southern parts of Norway.

Yr symbolizes the perfect combination of skills and knowledge applied to materials taken from nature.
