2020年12月4日 · The Wee Hoose. A tiny house, which is appropriately known as the Wee Hoose (or the Wee House), sits on a mini island in Loch Shin, Scotland. Allegedly, it was built in 1824, by a gentlemen named Jock Broon. He was given a small plot of land by a local official, as a token of appreciation for Broon’s whisky distillation know how.

On an islet a few dozen metres out into Little Loch Shin, keen-eyed passers-by will be greeted by the sight of Lairg’s tiniest house. The architects kept things simple: whitewashed walls, two windows, two chimney stacks and a big red door.

At first thoughts you'd think it's a little nesting place for ducks but you are wrong completely. Jock broon (the builder of it) was given a plot of land and for his appreciation of that he built the wee hoose on Loch Shin.

The story circulating states that it was built on Loch Shin near the Scottish village of Lairg in 1824 by poacher Jock Broon who was gifted land by a person who owned a large estate in return for being taught how to distill whisky.

The Wee House Deep into the wild Highlands lies the expansive Loch Shin which, at 17 miles long, is the largest in Sutherland. It is not the water’s size that turns eyes towards Loch Shin, however, but the tiny cottage built atop an island just a little bigger than it.

The Wee Hoose is situated in the quiet crofting hamlet of Linside, and enjoys superb views over the river below and across to the hills. The patio outside the cottage provides an ideal spot to look out for local wildlife, or to simply sit and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings.
