Sabre Knives - BladeForums.com
2010年8月30日 · I think I've seen 'Sabre' knives on the auction site from Ireland, Taiwan/China and Japan, at least. My dad used to have an old Japan-made Sabre fishing knife, most likely '70s vintage. I suspect it's one of those brands that's been bought/sold (in name only) many, many times, and may not reveal much about the quality of a particular knife ...

Full flat grind -vs- saber grind - BladeForums.com
2012年12月26日 · I prefer a sabre grind. I feel they are stronger-period. For me, yes, it is that simple. Some will say a ffg is more slicey. Remember, that is a 1/4" thick blade, so it will NEVER slice quite as good as a sushi knife. What i do, if i want more slice-ability from my big thick choppers, is to thin the edge on my cheap a** H Freight belt sander.
Sabre Japan 631 "Orignal Bowie" - BladeForums.com
2013年2月8日 · Found an older sabre Japan original Bowie at a flea market awhile back and am refinishing it. Does anyone have any information on the steel used? When I wet formed the sheath some water got in the wrap on the blade and it started rusting in a few spots, no biggie as I want to put a patina on the blade if possible.
Photos Help identifying Alex Coppel Solingen Sabre
2016年6月26日 · Hey guys, I had a local bike mechanic give me this blade to look over for advice. He received this blade from a friend many years ago and wanted to return as a gift in better condition. He said he thinks it's a sword from the 1870's or so. I did some cursory research into the markings without...
American Knife Co., Germany | BladeForums.com
2005年3月19日 · The blade is marked: American Knife Co. Germany on one side. The other side says Sabre Solingen with one long/tall "S" for both words. There is a "131" below Sabre Solingen. These is a thin blood groove. The knife is missing it's tip, but would be 9 5/8" long with it.
Best applications/strengths of hollow, saber, and full flat grind
2017年11月6日 · Sabre: A "heavy duty" grind. Not super useful for me. Scandi: OK for wood, but not really efficient for anything else IMO. Convex: I only use this on machetes or axes where I want a durable secondary edge. Chisel (Either flat or hollow): Works about like a hollow grind to me. EDC, defensive or kitchen use if you are into Japanese cutlery.
Is a scandi grind or a saber grind stronger? | BladeForums.com
2009年4月24日 · My experience is that the Scandi can be the better cutter/slicer. I always assumed it was due to the flat grind geometry as opposed to saber. I usually sharpen them accordingly, more of an "axe" edge on the sabre grinds and finer, sharper, folder-grade edge on the Scandis. Ideal set for me is a sabre ground leuku with a Scandi puuku.
