Creative uses for an owl familiar in combat?
So first of all, an owl in combat is incredibly fragile, and most of the time, it's probably best if the owl didn't even participate. That said, there are times (e.g. melee-only enemies or out of sight places to end turn) that it's generally safe for an owl familiar to join in the fight.
Find familiar how to use it.
Hi all. I am going to use find familiar ( owl) with my Eldritch knight. 1. How can I use it under help function A. Ability check. Would it be for perception only or other ability checks as well? B. Combat. It can grant advantage for 1 attack by harassing opponent if the owl goes before me. So I should (ready) attack and wait for owl if it’s initiative is after me. 2. Within 100ft I can ...
Celestial, Fey, and Fiend: A Guide to Familiar Keeping
2015年12月22日 · What to use your familiar for? There are a few interesting and creative strategies that can make a familiar very useful. Death from Above Get a flying familiar (preferably imp), and have it carry as much acid, alchemist's fire, or rocks covered in contact poison (if imp) you are willing to buy. An imp should be able to carry 45 pounds, a bat or raven 15, an owl 22.5, and a hawk 32.5. A flash ...
Giant Eagle/Elk/Owl: If I Wildshape into one, can I speak Common?
2019年3月21日 · By this logic, I should be able to speak any language, including Common, as a Giant Eagle/Elk/Owl because these creatures can speak one language. Last edited by Merudo; 2019-03-21 at 02:58 PM.

Owls As Familiars. Ok, But No. - Giant in the Playground Forums
2021年11月17日 · Readying a spell requires concentration in 5E last I checked and the Owl can't use Flyby during the mage's turn if they want to keep their reaction available for the touch spell. Mage Readies a touch spell and ends their turn. The Owl starts to Flyby. The Mage casts the readied touch spell.
Whose perception to use when seeing through a familiar's eyes?
2017年3月10日 · 2) The "see through your familiar's eyes and hear what it hears" has a couple of issues. 1st, it requires an action to do, and 2nd, it lasts only a single round. So, even if the DM decides that it's ok, your Observant Wizard friend is spending every round of every day, using an action to meld with his Owl's senses.
Reduced gnome wizard riding his owl familiar.
I doubt he could ride on it but the owl should be able to carry the gnome in its talons. An owl has a strength of 3, for a carrying capacity of 45 lbs, halved for being tiny size, or 22.5 pounds (which strikes me as a bit high for an owl, but that’s RAW). So a 5 pound, reduced size gnome is well within the owl’s carrying capacity. If the gnome wants to burn a Level 2 spell slot so his owl ...
Bird carrying capacity and why druids are scary
2017年7月4日 · Re: Bird carrying capacity and why druids are scary Yeah, they probably should have put a "divide by 10 for flying creatures" or something. Riding fliers (or getting grabbed by flying creatures and dropped off of cliffs!) is a fantasy staple, it's not like you couldn't possibly expect it to come up.
