2012年7月20日 · From an AmE speaker, 'hey' is perfectly fine in the US, people use it all the time. I remember hearing that more than once as a child, "Hay is for horses." in response to 'hey'. That being said, I rarely (if ever) hear someone use "hey there" or "hi there". I would say that those forms have fallen into relative disuse.
