Choose dry ice to keep items frozen. If you use dry ice for shipping perishables, you need to follow our dry ice requirements and restrictions.

If you are shipping food with dry ice, pack the food carefully to preserve freshness and avoid damage. As with storage containers, don’t seal your dry ice box airtight—the vapor needs to be able to escape or your package could explode.

Many perishable items, such as food, medical shipments or non-hazardous chemicals, are shipped with Dry Ice as a refrigerant. As long as the Dry Ice is not chilling a dangerous good (as defined by the U.S. Department of Transportation or the International Air Transport Association), the procedures for shipping are straightforward and easy.
