In Breath of the Wild, the Great Deku Tree lives deep within the Lost Woods, at the center of the Korok Forest. He watched over the Master Sword in its pedestal for 100 years prior to the events of Breath of the Wild.

The Great Deku Tree is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series who first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. He is the guardian deity of the forest and leader of the Kokiri and Korok people.

In Breath of the Wild, the Great Deku Tree dwells with the Koroks in Korok Forest in the Great Hyrule Forest region. He sits north of the Master Sword pedestal in the Korok Forest.

The Great Deku Tree protects each of the Kokiri and saves them from the outside world of Hyrule and its horrors. Unfortunately, his death later allows monsters to sweep in and infest the once peaceful forest.

In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Great Deku Tree is the guardian of Kokiri Forest, and watches over the Kokiri and fairies there, who see him as a father-figure. In turn, he sees the Kokiri as his children, and is stated to have given life to them.
