The 4th Psychological Operations Group was established in December 1967. It was created to expand the capability, equipment, and staffing to meet the increased demands for PSYOP support by Allied units fighting the war in the Republic of Vietnam. The 6th PSYOP Battalion was deployed to Vietnam in 1965 and was reorganized as the new 4th PSYOP Group.
