Garry Neill Kennedy joined NSCAD in 1967 and soon set about modernizing the small art school into an educational hotbed of activity in the latest modes of art creation. To recognize the importance of design studies in 1969, the school was renamed the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD).

NSCAD’s three campuses are found downtown in beautiful Kjipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia, rated the second fastest growing municipality in Canada. Halifax is also a diverse city, with immigrants from more than 168 different countries contributing to the rich culture of the city.

The program offers rigorous research training and hands-on experience to prepare students for careers in a variety of art education settings. Within the program, students choose from three different streams: Applied Pedagogy in Art Education, Museum and Curatorial, or Community-Based Practice.

When you go to your online bank account set NSCAD up as a payee as opposed to Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Your account number is the 6-digit or 7-digit ID number shown on your NSCAD ID card (use all numbers including the 0’s at the beginning of the number).
