The Arawaks are a tribe in Civilization IV: Colonization. The Arawaks were one of the most prominent societies of the Caribbean at the time of the New World's discovery and were the first natives encountered by Columbus.

Agueybana is the leader of the Arawaks in Civilization IV: Colonization. The name "Agueybana," literally meaning "Great Sun" in the Taino language, refers to two brothers, both natives of the island today known as Puerto Rico. Agueybana I, born between 1460 and 1480, was leader of the Taino, a branch of the Arawaks.

There are eight playable leaders in Colonization: two each for the English, French, Dutch, and Spanish colonies. Each leader has two traits, or characteristics that yield a special bonus. One of the traits is unique to that leader, and the other is shared by both leaders of a particular nation.

Civilization IV: Colonization, like the classic, focuses on the European discovery and later colonization of the New World. Leading one of the major European powers, players will engage in diplomacy, exploration, trade, and, of course, warfare, as they struggle to dominate the newly found territories.

There are eight different native peoples in the New World that you can encounter. Each has their own culture, mentality and sentiments towards outsiders. You automatically begin the game at peace with the natives and are able to travel through their territory without consequence.
