Here is the updated NBC Peacock that appeared before every NBC color broadcast starting in 1962. When NBC became a "full-color network" in the mid-60's, the peacock animation was shortened, then finally dropped in 1975, forgotten for many years.

When NBC became the first full-color network in 1966, the Peacock literally signed on the network with The Today Show and concluded 16 hours later with The Tonight Show. During his heyday, the Peacock appeared an average of 20 times per day!

2015年6月14日 · Essentially, this tape captures segments of about six minutes of broadcasting (with much cut due to the recorder being turned off and on), including bits of a game show, a newscast and commercials, as well as what anyone seeing TV in color for the first time in 1966 would want to see most, the NBC Peacock.

However, certain items stand out as moving representations of Bob Hope’s impact on generations of audiences. One of these artifacts is a framed jigsaw puzzle featuring the “NBC-TV Peacock,” which was sent to Bob Hope (c. 1965) from a student at Texas Christian University (Fort Worth).
