2020年12月1日 · Vascular lesions of gut are very rare. They may cause luminal obstruction in neonates. X-ray suggested small bowel obstruction. Contrast enema shows microcolon with multiple filling defects due to the obstruction. The diagnosis is usually impossible preoperatively and can be established after surgery only.

2015年9月1日 · In summary, we successfully treated a segmental volvulus of the ileum without malrotation in a 1-year-old infant with chronic vomiting. A single ultrasonographic examination was sufficient for arriving at the correct diagnosis, and laparotomy found that an anomalously narrowed mesentery was the cause of the volvulus.

Arteriovenous malformations in the ileum are a rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding in young adults with few reported cases and pose difficulty in diagnosing. They usually present with chronic gastrointestinal bleed.

A retroperitoneal ileum is a very rare finding, sometimes associated with other intestinal and embryonic abnormalities . In our case, the whole ileum was retroperitoneal and the patient remained asymptomatic. In some cases, malrotation can cause symptoms or complications due to compression or a volvulus thus necessitating surgery.
