I draw wayyyy more cartoony/blocky hands and don't feel uncomfortable in that. But yeah, the biggest miss towards reality here in my opinion is the straight-line alignment of the knuckles in a couple pictures.

Your hands will be the same size as the face you draw. Not the head - the face. Feet are similar. Hands, feet, and face will always be similar size in length. Edit: Also, IMO hands are some of the most difficult subjects to draw. I can refer what I believe to be the best hand reference book out there, that helped me learn how to draw hands.

Another way is to draw three fingered hands with a thumb (or four fingered if you consider the thumb a finger). You can also (for a five fingered hand) segment your own hand as a diagram. When drawing hands, you want to have the palm to be a box with a slight curve where the peak is in the middle knuckle. Drawing the base of the palm, draw like a triangle for where the base of the thumb would be. For the fingers, the shape is difficult for some people.
