2011年8月23日 · Gebel Kamil is an ungrouped Ni-rich (about 20 wt% Ni) ataxite characterized by high Ge and Ga contents (approximately 120 μg g −1 and approximately 50 μg g −1, respectively) and by a very fine-grained duplex plessite metal matrix. Accessory mineral phases in Gebel Kamil are schreibersite, troilite, daubréelite, and native copper.

2010年7月22日 · We report the detection in southern Egypt of a rayed impact crater 45 m in diameter (Fig. 1A) on a Cretaceous sandstone target. The ejecta rays highlight the exceptional freshness of the structure. The crater was identified by V. De Michele during a Google Earth survey and named Kamil Crater after nearby Gebel Kamil.

Kamil is a simple crater of only 45 m in diameter. It was generated by the hypervelocity impact of the Gebel Kamil iron meteorite into sandstone rocks of the Cretaceous Gilf Kebir Formation. On the basis of archeological evidence the impact occurred likely < 5000 yr ago.
