Kurta didn't just grow up in Torrington, which is 85 kilometres northeast of Calgary. Her parents established the Gopher Hole Museum and took care of the space from the beginning, in the '90s.
The eyes belong to the taxidermized gophers populating the dioramas of the Torrington Gopher Hole Museum. The Museum was opened in 1996 in the rural hamlet of Torrington, Alberta (pop. 200).
