CAIRO (Reuters) - The Suez Canal Authority's chairman, Osama Rabie, said on Monday that navigational maps for the planned 10km (6.2 mile) canal extension were issued.

Opened in 1869, the canal connects the Mediterranean Sea to the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea. It provides the fastest crossing between the Atlantic and Indian oceans.
