However the gardens and grounds in their own right are worthy of an hour (two hours if the visitor loves gardens and market gardens). There is a good sized chicken coop too.
Are you allowed to bring a picnic and eat it inside anywhere? My husband and I are on a specific diet and usually can't find much to eat for us in the cafe, but I suspect the weather is going to be rainy when we visit, so we need somewhere inside to eat. I don't fancy having a picnic for 4 people in the car!

Not sure, but I can't think of anywhere that's undercover, but outside on site. I don't think they'd allow you to eat anywhere inside. We didn't go in the cafe or shop.
