What we found out is that there is overnight ski storage at Alta Java on the mountain, under Alta Sports. Skis only, $20/day. The base has overnight lockers near ticket office and we could store 3 pairs of boots and helmets in there. $10/day, token at ticket office. We also were using the ski bus to base of the canyon and just took our skis with us. We used a day locker for storing our shoes/snow boots since we left the ski boots, etc. in overnight locker. A bit convoluted compared to the ski valets at other mountains, but worked ok for 3 of us.
Looking for recommendations regarding accommodation for Alta in March ‘18 We are travelling from Australia and would like to spend 5-7 days skiing. I am novice but my husband is very good. Have focused on Alta due to its affordable lift/rentals/lessons. On mountain accomm. is expensive so I’ve discovered the UTA bus... would anyone recommend shuttling to and from each day? I’ve looked at the shuttle map but can’t figure out exactly where the stops are on google maps. Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay that is very close to the stop? Alternatively if anyone has another mountain suggestion I am open to that that may have more affordable accommodation? We would like to avoid hiring a car. Our skiing experience is about wanting to experience good snow compared to what we have in Australia. Several options for places to have a meal and drink in the evening is preferred. Thank you.

I’ll add this: Alta is great for novices and advanced skiers. The snow quality is often rated best in the world. It is nothing like Australia! Feel free to ask more questions...I live in Alta.

There are five lodges in Alta, but one is closed this winter for remodeling. The four, in increasing order of luxury (from cozy but basic with some rooms with bath down the hall to full on deluxe): Goldminer’s Daughter, Alta Peruvian, Alta Lodge, and The Ruslter. There are condos too, links from the Alta ski area’s website or google alta chalets. If you have a party of six or eight check out the Black Bear Chalet. None of the condos are exactly ski in ski out in the Snowmass or Vail sense.
