Henry VII was the father of Henry VIII, grandfather of Elizabeth I, and through his daughter Margaret Tudor, he is the great great great (lot of greats) grandfather of the current King of England, Charles III. Henry VII ruled England from 1485 to 1509. He was born on January 28, 1457, in Pembroke Castle, Wales, to Margaret Beaufort and Edmund Tudor. Henry's claim to the throne was based on his mother's lineage, which traced back to King Edward III. His claim was supported by his decisive victory against Richard III in the Battle of Bosworth Field, which marked the end of the Wars of the Roses and the beginning of the Tudor dynasty. During his reign, Henry VII faced several challenges, including pretenders to the throne, uprisings, and rebellions. He also had to deal with foreign threats from Scotland, France, and Spain.
